Mouse Embryo Cryopreservation
Embryo Cryopreservation is available if you would like to preserve the strain instead of sperm cryopreservation, for instance, multiple alleles targeted with multiple mutations. We offer the cryopreservation service of your unique strain at our Phenbank facility at the ANU.
A minimum of 6 male and 16 female mice, of 6-8 weeks of age of the same genotype are required. More females may be required if ovulation is poor. External user’s mice will be shipped to our ANU Facility at the depositor expense.
The depositor will need to pay the caging fees of breeders to allow the production of (our recommendation):
For each cryopreservation project we will thaw and performed a basic test using 15-20 cryopreserved embryos for viability (2-cell to blastocyst) free of charge to provide QC for the cryopreservation process. A full QC service of embryos will be to generate viable pups.
Cryopreserved Embryos Storage
All cryopreserved embryos submitted to the APB for cryopreservation receive a unique barcode. Embryos will be stored in two separate liquid nitrogen tanks in secure facility at the APB Facility at the ANU.
Ongoing maintenance costs
For those strains that are not freely distributable depositors will need to pay on going annual storage fee.Mouse Embryo Cryopreservation and QC Test Costs
All costs are in AUD, exclusive of GST and are subject to change at any time.
Strain information must be provided prior to requesting cryopreservation.
