NHMRC Australian PhenomeBank

The NHMRC Australian Phenome Bank is central database of genetically modified mice held in Australia either live or as cryopreserved material.

The database allows you to search for murine strains carrying mutations in particular genes, strains with transgenic alterations and for mice with particular phenotypes.

Why have an Australian Database and why should I contribute to it?

  • Prevent duplication of strains
  • Prevent wastage of money
  • Facillitate collaboration
  • Accelerate research
  • A requirement of some funding agencies
The APN offers a free of charge mouse sperm cryopreservation service.

Why bother?

  • Prevent strain loss
    • due to accident
    • due to neglect
    • due to disease
  • Remove unwanted strains from shelf
  • International transportation
  • A requirement of some funding organisations

This database and associated sperm cryopreservation service has been gratefully supported by NHMRC.
